To change the world, one has to operate at many levels. Research papers and seminars speak to specialists; consulting influences corporate managers; outreach to the general public creates market "pull" for change. But some of our greatest effect comes through long-cultivated connections with political leaders, industry captains, and other elite decision-makers and institutions.
RMI's research and consulting staff works with businesses, communities, and organizations around the world in three interconnected teams. The three teams are:
Our strategy is to influence the influential by creating and exploiting "teachable moments." Senior RMI staff have addressed such audiences as the World Economic Forum, the World Bank, the Conference Board, the National Academy of Sciences, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and the Council on Foreign Relations. They have provided private briefings or expert testimony to many heads of state, corporate boards, utility commissions, top military leaders and staff colleges, elite business and law schools, and governmental advisory boards. They routinely advise corporations and public-sector bodies that are well-placed to effect change through their leadership.
