Conveying our ideas to both specialized and general audiences is an important part of our strategy of advancing change through informed citizenship. RMI's research and consulting staff works with businesses, communities, and organizations around the world in three interconnected teams. The three teams are:
We speak frequently at universities, "graduate" distinguished alumni, and distribute our numerous publications to educators, researchers, and other specialists. We organize professional seminars for business and community leaders, and maintain intern and visiting scholar programs.
We also teach through the media and through direct outreach to the general public. RMI staff write op-eds, help journalists prepare stories, and are increasingly sought-after for broadcast interviews. Our newsletter, mailed three times a year to nearly 20,000 supporters and media outlets, reports on recent research and resource issues, and its articles are frequently reprinted. The RMI website offers extensive information for citizens, communities, and companies. Our outreach department is a clearinghouse of information on resource efficiency, responding to calls and emails from individuals and organizations seeking advice on everything from home energy savings to sophisticated analysis of resource statistics. Staff guide regular tours of RMI's resource-efficient headquarters.
Our websites are important vehicles for education and outreach. See in particular these sections:
